Our Ancestors are our Inspiration.
Over 1000 years ago, they envisioned a world where we could use our unique gifts with confidence, navigate our world with precision, sustain ourselves (and our whānau) and live a life of abundance, purpose, and intention.
Our ancestors came together with a shared vision for a brave and better world, each contributing their unique gift to navigate the vast Pacific Ocean and establish a new basecamp for themselves on Te Ika a Māui / Te Waka a Maui, now known as Aotearoa, New Zealand. They were amazing at adapting to their new environment, developing talents among themselves, and acquiring more skills along the way.
Their courage, skill, and wisdom have been gifted down from generation to generation through cultural knowledge systems and storytelling tradition. And that same psyche is in our bones and in our DNA – it's who we are.
As a Māori business, we are proud to operate and trade as Māori in Business, with the same spirit of innovation, adaptation, and community that our ancestors embodied. In all our engagements we seek to represent them the best we can and that means using our unique gifts and talents to create a world that honors the legacy of our ancestors and sustains our whānau for generations to come.

Our Story.
Nau mai - Welcome to our digital basecamp. Drawing inspiration from the wisdom and oral stories of our ancestors, we aim to share our unique gifts and cultural knowledge with a new audience - the emerging leaders, the generation of future makers.
In our respective careers, we have always worked with people, helping them navigate challenging circumstances and find solutions. Evolving our approach, we transferred our skills into development and leadership coaching grounded in Māori culture, supporting individuals and workplaces in their growth and development.
Our digital basecamp is an extension of our physical home based in Tauranga Moana, nestled between the Kaimai Ranges in the south and Mauao in the north.
We acknowledge and honor the Mana Whenua and Iwi of Tauranga Moana: Ngāti Ranginui, Ngai te Rangi, and Ngati Pukenga whakapapa

Our Tohu | Our brandmark
Our distinctive brandmark is inspired by the ancestral story of 'Mauao,' the mountain overseeing our home area, and the origin of its name. Mauao, meaning 'caught by light,' proudly stands at the entrance of the Tauranga Harbour, serving as both a physical landmark and a metaphorical guide for all who gaze upon it.
Mauao challenges us to be brave, bold, and courageous in pursuing our heart's desires and embracing our unique gifts, ensuring that others may also benefit. In following the footsteps of our ancestors, we pay homage to their legacy and draw strength from their wisdom to shape a better future for ourselves and those around us.
Our People. Our Leadership
Founded on whānau and Matauranga Māori values, our leadership team is a close-knit group, combining diverse skills and expertise with a shared commitment to driving our Māori/indigenous professional development company forward. Within our team, we leverage our Kaitiaki Assessment (a unique behavioral science and positive psychology self-assessment tool framed through a Māori cultural lens) to define roles and responsibilities.
By highlighting each member's unique strengths and aligning them with our organisational goals, we foster a collaborative approach that encourages self-determination, open communication, trust, and accountability.
We are proudly a women-led, for purpose company, with visionary leader Stacey Mareroa-Roberts driving decision-making and setting the strategic direction. Our Chief Wellbeing Officer (CWO) ensures a positive work culture and wellbeing, aligning all our programmes to maramataka for a holistic approach.
Our ‘Kauae Runga’ Partners and ‘Kauae Raro’ Coaches ensure culturally safe and relevant consulting, coaching, and mentoring programme facilitation. Meanwhile, our Uekura (administrative assistant) handles operational delivery and virtual support.
With a focus on individual strengths and expertise, our collaborative leadership team prioritises personal and professional wellbeing. Embracing innovation, we constantly redefine learning and professional development by incorporating AI technology and machine learning tools.
